Yacht Charter Itinerary

A Norway yacht charter  reveals a dramatic landscape shaped by nature, from majestic fjords and towering peaks to river valleys, glaciers, and forests.

Cruise between cosmopolitan cities and traditional villages while experiencing Norway’s distinctive culture and warm Scandinavian hospitality. A private yacht charter provides an exceptional way to explore the country’s natural beauty and cultural character at your own pace.

Alesund

Day 1

Alesund

Ålesund is an ideal starting point for a Norway yacht charter, set across a peninsula and islands overlooking the Atlantic. Rebuilt in distinctive Art Nouveau style after a devastating fire, the town is known for its ornate turrets, spires, and historic architecture.

Explore museums, artisanal shops, restaurants, and seasonal cultural festivals before cruising into the surrounding fjord and mountain landscapes.

From Ålesund, discover the dramatic Geirangerfjord, the bird sanctuary of Runde, or the snow-capped peaks surrounding Hjørundfjord and the Sunnmørsalpene.

Stranda

Day 2

Stranda

Stranda is a small fjord-side town surrounded by dramatic mountains that rise directly from the water. The Strandafjell Mountains offer spectacular alpine scenery overlooking the shimmering fjord.

Known as a popular winter ski destination, Stranda takes on a different character in summer, when its mountain terrain becomes a challenging destination for mountain biking.

Geiranger

Day 3

Geiranger

The Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Norway’s most celebrated fjords. Cruise its distinctive S-shaped waters beneath snow-covered peaks, lush vegetation, historic mountain farms, and dramatic waterfalls, including the Seven Sisters, the Suitor, and the Bridal Veil.

Beyond the scenery, Geiranger offers activities for every style of traveler, from kayaking, fishing, rafting, and cycling to exceptional local dining. Sample regional cuisine made with local ingredients, then enjoy a drink at Geiranger Brewery, partly housed in a traditional boathouse.

Maloy

Day 4

Maloy

Sheltered from the open sea at the northern edge of FjordKysten, Måløy is one of Norway’s busiest export harbors and an excellent stop for experiencing local coastal culture.

Explore hidden coves, beaches, and nearby villages, or try fishing in the glacier-fed waters for cod and herring. Visit Kannesteinen Rock, known for its distinctive mushroom-like shape, or hike from Måløy to Veten, also called the Beacon. Rising 615 meters above sea level, the summit offers panoramic views across the fjord, Måløy, Kråkenes, Selje, and the Stadhavet ocean.

Floro

Day 5

Floro

Florø, Norway’s westernmost town, is surrounded by dramatic archipelagos and a landscape of snow-capped mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, rivers, and tranquil lakes.

Experience the coast through lighthouse safaris, sea fishing, kayaking, and coastal hikes. Florø also has a rich shipbuilding heritage, showcased at the Coastal Museum, where historic boats and artifacts document the region’s maritime communities. Summer art exhibitions add a cultural dimension to the visit.

Flam

Day 6

Flam

Set at the innermost shore of the Aurlandsfjord, Flåm is surrounded by steep mountains, dramatic waterfalls, and narrow valleys. Easily reached by yacht, it provides an ideal base for exploring the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s narrowest fjords.

Explore the surrounding landscape by hiking or cycling along Rallarvegen, fish in the Flåmselvi River, or visit Stegastein Viewpoint, where a platform extends 30 meters from the mountainside 650 meters above the Aurlandsfjord. For a taste of local craft brewing, visit Ægir Brewery, one of Norway’s notable craft breweries.

Balestrand

Day 7

Balestrand

Surrounded by high mountains and deep fjords, Balestrand has long inspired artists with its dramatic landscapes and distinctive light. The village features historic villas influenced by English and German architecture, while the Kviknes Hotel houses an extensive collection of paintings by artists who have visited the region.

In summer, explore local galleries and exhibitions celebrating Balestrand’s artistic heritage. On the water, kayak along the fjord or take a guided excursion across the Jostedalsbreen Glacier. For a quieter experience, stroll through the galleries or capture the surrounding scenery yourself.

Bergen

Day 8

Bergen

Norway’s second-largest city, Bergen combines cosmopolitan culture with a distinctive small-town character. Known as the “Gateway to the Fjords,” Bergen has a long history rooted in the Viking Age and was once a major center of trade between Norway and Europe.

Explore the UNESCO-listed Hanseatic Wharf, the historic Bergenhus Fortress, museums, galleries, restaurants, and cobblestone streets. Visit the aquarium or fish market, or experience the Bergen International Festival, held each May and June.
