White Bay on Jost Van Dyke
The White Bay Beach is the home of the famous Soggy Dollar Bar
A yacht charter to the BVI wouldn’t be complete without a visit to White Bay on Jost Van Dyke. Rated one of the top beaches in the BVI, White Bay is known for its long stretch of powdery white sand surrounded by lush green hills, barrier reef, and award-winning beach bars.
The western-most anchorage on the south shore of Jost van Dyke, White Bay is best reached by boat, although you can also reach it via ferry to Great Harbor followed by a walk or taxi ride. This visually stunning beach is loved by people of all ages, with families, honeymooners, retirees and groups of friends all flocking to its shore.
White Bay’s beach is fringed by palm trees, many with hammocks where you can relax and take in the surrounding beauty. Lounge around and sunbathe on the sand in between cooling swims in the tranquil waters.
The coral barrier reef protects the water from waves and swells, creating excellent swimming and snorkeling conditions. A channel through the center of the reef provides an entrance for boats to anchor in the bay.
While there isn’t a dive shop, guests can rent snorkeling gear and water toys. Crewed yacht charters have an advantage as they will have their own selection of water toys available to enjoy while visiting the area.
Swim up to one of the beach’s famous bars, including the Soggy Dollar Bar, known for inventing the world-famous Painkiller cocktail. Meet locals and other charter guests, and share stories over a cocktail.
Be sure to add White Bay to your BVI charter, and experience the turquoise water, white sand, and authentic Caribbean hospitality for yourself.
