Believed to be the setting of Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island,” Norman Island has a history filled with pirates and hidden gold. While legends spur much of the talk of buried treasure, the amazing Caves – one of the most popular tourist attractions in the BVI – add to the allure of Norman Island.
This two and a half mile long island is located at the southern end of the British Virgin Islands, near the US Virgin Islands. While the island itself is uninhabited, you will find Pirates Bight bar and restaurant on Norman Island. Available for lunch and dinner, the eatery serves West Indian cuisine in a perfect deserted island setting.
Norman Island has rolling hills sloping gently to the waters edge. There are beautiful bays and offshore reefs for yachting, diving, snorkeling, and many other water activities in the BVI.

Formentera, a twelve mile long island south of Ibiza in the Mediterranean, is often considered the forgotten Balearic Island. With pristine white sand beaches and a quiet, simple style, Formentera is unlike any of the other islands.
With a lack of commercial development and a ban on an excessive resort construction, Formentera is considered the “last paradise of the Mediterranean.” Initially, hippies of the 60s and 70s were attracted to the island because of its unspoiled natural beauty. However, today tourists of all kinds enjoy the deserted beaches and turquoise waters of the Mediterranean.
With limited hotels and beaches that are only accessibly by boat, Formentera in the Balearic Islands is a yachter’s paradise.
While there are a wide variety of activities in the BVI, one thing that you don’t want to miss is a visit to Foxy’s Bar. Foxy’s is famous in the Caribbean – and around the world – not only for its food and drinks, but also for its atmosphere. Located at Great Harbour on Jost Van Dyke, this club is the most happening place in the Islands, particularly on New Year’s Eve.
Foxy’s Bar for the Old Year’s Night celebration is unlike any other. The cool ocean breeze mingles with the music and the dancers just can’t get enough. The band plays from dawn to dusk. The drinks flow and the food is hot and delicious.
For a wild night of fun and excitement, Foxy’s is where it’s at. The wealthy, the famous, and the beautiful all head to the British Virgin Islands to welcome in the New Year and say goodbye to Old Year’s Night.
When vacationing in Croatia, you must visit the Krka National Park to witness the beauty that is the Krka Waterfalls. The Krka River travels though deep canyons and lush forests, dropping in seven spectacular waterfalls.
The National Park is a valuable ornithological area, with as many as 222 bird species calling it home. Additionally, the area claims the only hawk training center in the country, and many enjoy the presentations that showcase the hawk trainers’ skills, including hunting with hawks.
With the lack of commercial interference, entering the Krka National Park in Croatia is like stepping back into time. The natural splendor along with the pleasant Mediterranean climate makes for a fabulous vacation destination. The weather is always perfect, even on days that might be considered too hot, thanks to the cool sea breeze and the mist off the waterfalls.
The spectacular views from the Krka Waterfalls will make you yearn to return to Croatia again and again.
